WordStudy: Thanksgiving

"Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song" (Psalm 95:2 NIV).

In honor of our Thanksgiving this week, we will focus our WordStudy on the word "thanksgiving" (i.e. thankful or thanks).

What comes to your mind when you think about Thanksgiving? Have you ever checked out the word "thanksgiving" (thankful or thanks) in the scriptures.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes this week to ponder this subject as you meditate on God’s Word in preparation for your Thanksgiving celebration.

1. Research the word "thanksgiving" in God's Word.

2. Choose one of the scriptures you find and write it down; then, read it out loud.

3. In 1-2 sentences, write what you think the scripture means.

4. In 1-3 paragraphs, try to connect with the scripture. What did you think about as you read the passage? A life experiences (yours or someone else's)? A life lesson? Another scripture or biblical truth? Something else?

WordStudy: Repentance

"Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death” (2 Corinthians 7:10 NIV).

This week’s WordStudy: Repentance! Yes, you heard me right! "Repentance" (i.e. repent/s)!

We all probably have a preconceived notion of what the word “repentance” means. So, what comes to your mind when you think about that word? And what does God’s Word say about the word “repentance” or “repent”?
